Jobless in Kuwait
So I wake up this morning and call a company that has asked me to come for an interview while I was in Dubai. I told the lady who called me, that I'll be back in a week and schedule another time for an interview. I called yesterday morning and no one answered so I left a voice message. No one called me back, so I called again this morning and finally the nice lady answered. She told me that they've interviewed some candidates and if the management is not happy with one of them she'll call me in a couple of weeks and schedule an interview...Now I've been sitting at home since September 2005. More than a year without work is driving me crazy.
I've been freelancing as a graphic designer but let's face it. . .I'm going nowhere with it. It's fun doing what I do, but when you're working with cons, who say they'll pay you and eventually don't, it really kills me.
My mom suggested that I continue studying to earn an MBA. I hope I'll get a good chance with interviews then. I've applied to NBK, MTC, Wataniya, and some other places I can't remember. Why haven't any of them called me yet? They might be looking for people with a lower pay, say...ones with highschool degrees for example?
Now I'm seriously thinking of getting a higher degree. I hope by then I'd be appreciated in the working field. My friends keep on telling me Good for you! Enjoy your life then think about work. I've lived it well people, now I need to earn some money. I don't expect our GENEROUS family's "charity" to continue. No need to get into that now. I'll talk about it later. I don't know about the actual statistics of unemployed people in Kuwait, but I'm sure they're a lot, and most of them have college degrees just like me.
A High Five to my fellow unemployees! You only live once, so make the best out of it :)
